The Nell Smith Memorial Fund will help young artists develop and grow and we need YOUR help!

Here is your chance to help young musicians at the grassroots level and it needn’t cost you a penny!

Remember when you were starting out. How much 10 grand would have meant to you?

Maybe you would have made the best music video ever, maybe you would have recorded an album, perhaps it would have funded your first overseas tour or got you to a showcase event to meet record labels and managers.

When we lost Nell in October 2024 right after she finished shooting her last music video, we quickly decided that she would LOVE it if we were to establish a fund that focuses fully on supporting young musicians as a way to repay the kindness and support she received on her own short journey.

How you can help

  1. Perform an acoustic version of one of Nell’s songs on social media to help us generate visibility and make sure people hear her music.

  2. Share Nell’s music and story on your social media channels. Her music needs to be heard. You can download animated content to share here (reel / square format) or feel free to create something yourself.

  3. Wear a t-shirt on stage and tell people about Nell’s music. Just let us know a little bit about you and where you will wear it and we will send you one - click here to get your t-shirt

  4. Tell people that you talk to in the media that you are behind the memorial fund and ask them to talk about it and play the music.

  5. Click here and buy Nell’s album. All of the profit from sales go straight to young musicians.

  6. Donate what you can to the Gofundme.

We aim to raise $100,000 and give away $10,000 for the next ten years to deserving young artists.

How you people apply?

The Memorial Fund will start taking applications in late 2025 with the first awards being handed out on the first anniversary of Nell’s album release (April 11th 2026).

It’s going to be easy for people to apply for the funds, applicants will be able to record a short video to tell their story. We are interested in what they want to do will be making decisions on who receives support based on artistic merit, not revenue forecasts or predictions of how many streams they will get.

Art is important. It’s crucial in fact. Especially in a time like this so we want to support kids that are doing cool stuff. That’s the bottom line.

A legacy of Love and Support

The creation of the Nell Smith Music Fund is not just a tribute to Nell; it’s a way to ensure her story continues to inspire others. Her passion for music and her generous heart touched so many. By supporting this initiative, you will help create opportunities for young musicians to follow in her footsteps, ensuring her legacy endures.

With gratitude,

Nell’s Family
